'SmartStartMenu' is a simple program that resides in the taskbar. It helps you access almost any program, document, or folder faster. It uses an 'on-the-fly' alphabetized list, so as soon as you press the first letter into its search window, it will provide you with the list of files or folders beginning with that letter. With every character you type, the list will get smaller. In order to find specific files, you should add locations in the 'Scan Locations' list. By default, the hot key is 'Win+S' but it can be changed. When you use this hot key, it will open the program and then you can start typing the search keyword.
You can set matching options such as 'Word Start', 'Start Only', or 'All'. Another option is the 'Auto-Select'. This could be 'First', 'MFU' (most frequently used) or 'MRU' (most recently used). You can use context menus as well. For this option, I recommend you to read the 'Help file.'
The user interface can't be changed. I mean you can't even change its color. When I checked the 'Use Windows Colors' check box, I couldn't see much difference except that the green margins of its taskbar instance disappeared.
Pluses: Works pretty fast.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: I enjoyed testing the program but I look forward for the next release.
