 | | It's time to present you an application that even my grandma can use it. It is called AFELO and it is a Java wizard based tool for compressing pictures. Being a wizard, it can compress the pictures in just four steps that I will present to you:
1. Choose how many images to be compressed: a single one, all images from one directory, several images from different directories;
2. Choose the exact pictures for compression;
3 Choose the maximum size of the picture depending on what you want to do with it: display it on the web, for local use or advanced settings (choose manually the size);
4 Choose where should the images be stored: on the desktop, in a folder or on your website;
Now for saving them on your website you just have to enter the address of it and specify the protocol you would like to use. The application supports the FTP protocol for transfering files or the OLEFA information management system. The OLEFA system uploads the images directly into the correct spot of the resources manager.
Besides the fact that this application is so easy to use, supports also all the major platforms. Just need to install the SUN Java Technology package in order to run it on every platform like: Windows, MacOSX, etc.
Pluses: free, easy to use, supports all the major platforms, supports the FTP protocol;
Drawbacks / flaws: because it uses the Java package, the application runs slower than it should do;
In conclusion: Being a crossed platform application and created as a wizard, this application should be taken in consideration and next versions should be followed up.
