 | | BitFontCreator enables you to create your own text fonts. You can also use this software to modify monochrome bitmap fonts. These fonts can be used for electronic devices that support bitmap fonts or in the Windows operating system.
The program's user interface is simple. It displays a list of all the characters, allowing you to edit each character separately. The user interface also consists of an editor panel (glyph editor) and displays a preview of the current font. You have some tools which you can use for drawing the characters in your font. These tools enable you to create simple shapes (rectangle, ellipse, circle), to draw lines, to select areas, and to erase certain parts of a character.
Zooming the character displayed in the glyph editor is supported. It's also possible to modify the size of all the characters in the current font. Increasing the size of the characters is done by selecting the direction and the number of pixels you want to add. Decreasing the size of characters is done the same way.
Pluses: You can export each font as a windows font resource (FNT), as a Windows font file (FON), or as a LCD mockup font file. BitFontCreator also supports exporting the bitmap data into a text file, allowing you to customize the exported file (bit order, packed, etc.).
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: Creating fonts is a time consuming task. BitFontCreator can speed up this process, because it is well designed.
