East-Tec Backup 2009 2.3

After they've created East-Tec CryptSecure, East-Tec DisposeSecure and East-Tec Eraser (a powerful eraser tool for cleaning the hard drive), the people from EAST Technologies created East-Tec Backup. Knowing the quality of their products, I offered myself to test their latest release.

This is a software created on modern structures. Guided by an intuitive wizard, the software can back up files, folders, documents, emails, address book, etc. More than this it can backup also programs settings such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express.

The wizard is the key to a fast backup process. It will guide you through all the important setings from naming the new task, choosing the source type (files/folders, registry keys, emails, user settings), the location of the output path (local drive, external drive, CD/DVD, FTP, removable disk, LAN) to type of conversion with or without encryption.

Besides the normal ZIP compression and the ZIP password for protection, East-Tec Backup includes also AES encryption. AES is actually Advanced Encryption Standard based on the Rijndael cipher and was adopted by National Institute of Standards and Technology.

To make things even faster, the scheduler can make all the backups automatically. The good thing is that besides the time and date set, you can also choose before or after which task should run the schedule.

Pluses: intuitive wizard, task manager, scheduler,data synchronization tool, FTP support.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: With this product, EAST Technologies proved again their capabilities in developing powerful products at a low price.
