 | | Folder Marker is a shell extension which enables you to modify any folder's icon with just a few mouse clicks. This is a very good idea if you like to categorize the folders on your computer. The program comes with a couple of nice looking icons, which you can use to mark your folders, but it also gives you the option to use any other icon from your computer.
After you install this software, you can change your folders' icons by right clicking on each of them and choosing an appropriate icon, which will better identify your folder. For example you could set the folder's icon to represent priority levels or project status.
Batch icon assignment and automatic update checking is also possible. The program is very simple and easy to use, providing only the functionality required to assign icons to folders, with no extra features.
Pluses:
Drawbacks / flaws: A major drawback I found, was that I couldn't restore my default icon to a folder. In order to do this, I had to manually delete the hidden "Desktop.ini" file that the program created inside my folder.
In conclusion: Nice idea. Too bad the "Restore default icon" menu doesn't work. Looking forward to see this bug fixed in the next version of this software.
