| | 'Snarfer' is proof that free programs can be very useful. It's a fast and easy feed reader. The best-known feed formats (RSS, ATOM, and XML) are supported by this program. You can also use it to search the Internet for keywords. The program updates the results on its own, without any user intervention.
The user interface has a special tree on the left, which helps you organize content better. You can create new folders and each feed that you add appears inside this tree. The program displays the content of each feed you select as a list of items. Each item can be viewed inside a special panel, which is in fact an Internet browser. The overall appearance is very similar to Outlook Express.
If you want, you can adjust the interval between two consecutive content updates. By default, the program updates the feed contents every hour. When you minimize the program, it displays a tray icon. This is nice, because it doesn't get in your way.
Pluses: Snarfer can automatically search EBay for certain items. The program provides a useful wizard, which helps you enter the details of your search. For example, you could set it to search for a "used car" with a price between $500 and $1000.
