Brosix is an instant messaging program with voice support and some extra features you might found useful.
I will briefly enumerate its basic features, as they live up to the standards of other well known instant messengers: rich text instant messaging and conference, voice chat and conference, voice mail, video chat and file transfer. The program is not as complex as
Yahoo Messenger or
Windows Live Messenger but it has some nice features.
The 'Co-Browse' is a simple browser which, once you launched it, will also be launched on your contacts' desktops in order that thew view what you are seeing. I found this feature quite useful, since it saved me the time of sending links to other contacts.
The 'Whiteboard' is a 'Windows Paint'-like feature which allows you to draw shapes, add text and share all your work with your contacts.
The 'Share Your Screen' feature allows you to broadcast your desktop to selected contacts or to all the contacts online. You can also enable/disable the 'Remote Control' function, lock your session, and switch between presenters. However, you need to download and install an add-on to Brosix in order to enable this feature.
Another interesting feature of this instant messenger is the fact that you can join the public network or you can register your own network and administer it from from a web-based Administration Console.
Pluses: The extra features described above; no commercials/advertisements of any kind.
Drawbacks / flaws: Quite poor regarding the configuration options. The program crashed a couple of times while sharing my screen or using the 'Whiteboard'.
In conclusion: An interesting instant messaging program worth trying.
