| | ABC Backup is meant to be a backup and restore utility. It is designed to backup, restore, Upload/Download backups to FTP servers or simply copy files to different locations. You can select the task priority from Idle to Time Critical, select the files, select compression to ZIP archives, select compression level and password in case you need to protect your archives. Backup target storage can be either local/LAN, FTP or CD/DVD. A task scheduler is available for repeating the selected operations daily, weekly or monthly.
Pluses:
Drawbacks / flaws: Testing the program brought up some peculiar issues; first, we couldn't get a hold of any offline or online Help section, then we learned that the program acted erratically concerning the scheduled tasks. When adding a task, we had to definitely enter a starting hour, which we couldn't override using the and the instant "Run Task", except for a couple of times. Weird. In the end, we managed to backup files and folders, but the task of backing up entire partitions was not responsive.
In conclusion: Quite unuseful as a backup/restoration application, as it doesn't properly back-up data, it only copies data to other locations ZIP archives the selected data. Well, we can manually do that using only WinZip. As for the other operations such as restoring from CD/DVD, FTP, etc., the program acted so erratically, that we can only recommend to revert to other backup utilities.
