| | 'PDF2XL' can convert tables from PDF documents into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets or into CSV (Comma-Separated Values) files. When the PDF file isn't protected, the conversion works perfectly. To extract data from a protected PDF, you need to install a component called OCR (Optical Character Recognition). This component is only available in the OCR and Enterprise versions of this software.
PDF2XL is designed for business users. It comes with a great help system, which can assist you during each step of the conversion task. When I first started the program, I noticed the help on the left. I didn't know how to convert a file, so I found this guide to be the best choice for learning how to use the program. If you don't understand the instructions, you can play the video tutorials. The bottom line is that a beginner has all the information needed to learn how to use this software.
You just need to select an area of the PDF document. The program automatically detects the table data inside your selection and populates the preview spreadsheet accordingly. When you are satisfied with the preview, you can export the data into CSV. You need to have Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Word installed to export into XLS or DOC.
Pluses: The program detects the tables in the PDF automatically. You can also modify the table layout yourself. For example, you can merge, split, or resize certain rows or columns.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: PDF2XL is a great tool for converting the table data from PDF documents into XLS (Microsoft Excel) format.
