 | | PPT2Flash helps you convert Microsoft PowerPoint (.PPT and .PPS) files into 'Flash' slideshows. It can be used as a standalone application or as a plug-in for PowerPoint, but the functions under these two modes are different.
In standalone mode, you can drag and drop a PowerPoint document onto the program's window and then choose a 'Flash' template (three available) for your presentation. These templates are customizable and you can change the color style, from default to green or purple, the template style (full, general or simple) and add author info and picture, if you want to.
From the 'Settings' menu you can select the conversion mode (static slides or advanced), the frame rate (min 12 fps and max 30 fps), the play speed (25% - 200% of the original speed), insert background music (MP3 and WAV supported) and many other options for the slideshow. While running the presentation, you can use the pencil tool for highlighting an area of the screen, if there is something you want to point out to the viewers. You can also change the views with a single click of a mouse, from the full style mode to the general or simple mode, thus animating the slideshow even more.
As a PowerPoint plug-in, PPT2Flash allows you to record a narration and to make use of the 'Timeline Audio Editor' available in this mode. The editor enables you to add and edit MP3 and WAV files, which you may want to insert as background music for the slideshow, and you can copy, paste, cut or delete a wave segment, insert silence, adjust the volume, synchronize with the slide and set the fade duration.
The output file can be published on the Web, export as single SWF file, publish for LMS, package for e-mail or CD or you can generate an EXE file.
Pluses: You can use the pencil tool to highlight areas of the screen.
Drawbacks / flaws: It's too expensive.
In conclusion: The Flash slideshows created with PPT2Flash look better than the regular PowerPoint presentations, if you ask me, and you have more control over it.
