CreaDMG 1.7

CreaDMG is a simple application that creates DMG disk images.

This program is very easy to use because it provides a simple interface. Its operating mode is very simple: the input file, the output file, and some parameters for the output file.

The source path supports only one file. I tried to add more than one and it doesn't have this kind of functionality. If you like to use more than one file, create a folder, and drag the desired files onto that folder. The solution for that kind of functionality is to use that folder as the source path.

Setting the output path is very easy. It's a simple browse action to the targeted folder.

The parameters for the output file are the name of the virtual volume and the format of the volume. The format of the volume has a nice list of supported formats. Pick one that suits your needs. If you would like the compression of the volume to be enabled you can also check the appropriate button.

There are some extra options in that panel, such as skipping of the unreadable files, a feature that's available for Mac OS X 10.4 and later, and the encryption of the virtual disk. If the volume is encrypted, then the user needs to provide a password in order to access the files within the encrypted volume.

Pressing the 'Create Disk Image' starts the whole process. The virtual disk image is created in the output path. At the end of the whole process, the application shows you the log of the process.

Pluses: it created DMG virtual disk images pretty easily and it has some nice options.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: if you need a free DMG builder, this tool is one of the recommended applications.
