 | | There are very many backup tools available on the Internet. Handy Backup comes with a great set of features which make it stand out from the bunch. It supports various backup destinations like DVD, CD, Blu-ray, FTP, memory stick, and so on. The program can encrypt or compress the backup files using 128 bit encryption (Blowfish) and the Zip64 on-the-fly compression technique.
The application features a well designed scheduler, which can be used for tasks that should be run periodically or at a specified date and time. Just like other backup utilities, Handy Backup allows you to define multiple backup or restore tasks. Each task can be configured and run individually, because the program uses multithreading.
Actually, the tasks you define have three main purposes (backup, restore, synchronization). When you choose to define a new task, a wizard appears. This wizard guides you each step of the way to configuring a new task. If you choose not to select the Expert Mode checkbox, configuring the task is very simple. However, if you select this checkbox, you have more control over what the task should do.
Pluses: You may configure the program to execute a certain task when logging on or off. In order to do that, Handy Backup must be configured to run as a Windows Service. It's also worth mentioning that Handy Backup supports incremental backups, saving space on your destination media.
Drawbacks / flaws: The backup tool is a bit slow. It takes a long time to backup many files.
In conclusion: Handy Backup can be used by both professionals and home users for backing up their important data.
