 | | Capture .NET is a great set of desktop tools. It features a screen capture utility, a color picker, a history cleaner, an alarm clock, a system tweaker, and many other useful utilities. I was amazed to see the wide range of features that can fit into a 1 MB software. Capture .NET is distributed as a stand-alone executable file that, as I said, is only 1 MB in size.
First things first, I need to tell you that you need to have .NET Framework 2.0 installed in order to run this program. When you start the program, a semi-transparent window appears. This window displays a clock and a calendar, but also allows you to access the program's extra features. You can use it to capture an area of your screen, your entire desktop, or a certain window. The nice thing is that you can use a free-hand tool to capture an irregular area of your desktop. After you select which area to capture, you can edit it in a special window. This window allows you to add effects to the newly captured image.
Capture .NET can export images using the BMP, GIF, JPG, PNG, or TIF format. The color picker is quite a useful tool when you need to view the color code of a pixel from your desktop. The application also has a built in "Windows Spy". This feature can be used to view the internal name of any window. It can also be used to set the transparency level, to hide, or to set any window to appear on top of other applications.
Pluses: The built in Privacy Eraser is definitely a plus for this application. This utility is fully configurable, enabling you to select which items you want to delete. You can choose to erase your temporary Internet files, recent documents, Windows Run/Find/Open/Save history, mapped network drives, cookies, and so on.
Among the application's extra features the system tweaker (improve your system's speed), the magnifer, the backup utility, the screen pencil, and the database reader (supports Microsoft Access, MySQL, MS MSQL, Firebird client) are also worth mentioning.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: This application is a set of very useful tools, all rolled into one. 'Capture .NET' is in my opinion a great software. It has an evaluation period of 50 days, which means that you have plenty of time before deciding whether to buy it or not. It's well worth taking a look at.
