| | Google Toolbar is an Internet Explorer add-on which enhances your browsing speed, quality, but also offers additional tools and surfing options.
The installation is simple and the toolbar is very easy to configure and use. After installation, Google Toolbar will restart your browser (Internet Explorer) and you can use its control panel to activate or deactivate features.
This small Internet Explorer add-on enhances your navigation, by providing quick access to the Google search engine. It also blocks pop-ups and displays the page popularity ranking of the current displayed webpage in your browser.
If you want to improve your work quality, Google Toolbar contains a 'Spell Checker' which can be used for spellchecking your online forms. It is extremely useful because you can add new words to the dictionary and it’s also a timesaver because it replaces searching for online dictionaries. The 'Translator' can be used to translate pages in English or even translate words into other languages. However, you can only translate words into Russian, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, French, Italian, and German. You can fill in Web forms by using 'AutoFill', while 'AutoLink' helps you link street addresses to maps.
You can add several buttons which act as shortcuts to the Google search page, like the Google account login page, and other customized searches (images, groups, Froogle), and shortcuts to Blogs and News. You can also use the 'Send to' button, in the Google Toolbar, to send a part of a Web page using Gmail, Blogger, etc.
What I like the most is the fact that Google toolbar is customizable. You can configure its features the way you like it and you can add or remove buttons according to your needs, enhancing your browsing experience. I have now a quick access to my Gmail account, News, Maps, and of course my browsing is faster and safer thanks to the phishing filter and the pop-up blocker.
Pluses: The search history can be saved across browser sessions, you also have access to a drop-down menu, and you can set Google as the default search engine in IE.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: Fun, useful and easy to use. You should give it a try.
