- you need to send SMS to person in USA from Europe at times when he/she doesn't need to wake up to read it,
- you would like to send a calendar entry with appointment information to remind somebody about the upcoming meeting (eg. 4 hours before the meeting starts),
- you may need to check your credit/debit balance in your bank account by sending an SMS (if your bank supports this) and don't want to forget about it.
Application that consists of two views (one showing scheduled messages and their states, other showing drafts - not yet scheduled messages) is able to: - manage of SMS scheduling information:
- schedule by using several methods: by setting time & date, by setting duration time (eg. message will be sent automatically in 30 minutes), by setting the message to be sent manually (upon request)
- delete, suspend sending or reschedule message for other time
- show extended information about message (standard information + state, number of characters, folder summary).
How to schedule a message? First, you need to have a message (a message that exists in ''Drafts'' folder). If you want to create a new one, you should run your favourite message editor (eg. standard messaging application) and create your text message (SMS). You can also run other application that creates SMSes with special attachements by ''Send via SMS'' option (eg. Contacts application, Calendar application, Wap browser or any other application that has ''Send via SMS'' option). When editing is finished (body of the message and ''To'' fields are filled), save the message in ''Drafts'' folder by choosing ''Back'' button in message editor instead of ''Send'' option. Now you have the message ready to be scheduled. To schedule new message you need to run SMS Scheduler application, change view to ''Drafts'' and use ''Schedule'' option on your message. Choose the schedule method that suits you best, fill in the time related data and if the scheduling process went OK, you will see the confirmation note (the message will also be shown in ''Scheduled'' view with proper status icon). Your scheduled message will aslo be shown in ''Outbox'' folder of standard messaging application. If you want to remove, suspend or reschedule the message change view to ''Scheduled'' and choose proper option.
Application is a finalist of Series 60 Challenge 2005 contest in Best Enterprise Applications category.
