| | | | | Pocket A-Z map of Birmingham Publisher's Description This publication has been designed for a Pocket PC running Windows® CE and The Pocket A-Z Viewer. The map covers an area of central Birmingham, extending to Aston, Boardesley Green, Balsall Heath, Handsworth and the University of Birmingham at Edgbaston. Major buildings are colour-coded to indicate places of interest and other buildings that are open to the public. The fully searchable index of over 3,300 entries includes streets, districts, hospitals, stations and selected places of interest. Clicking an entry in the search results quickly displays a map showing its location.
Additional maps are also available covering other towns and cities throughout the UK. These can be installed along-side this publication and stored on compact flash cards to provide a useful library of maps which can be added and removed as required.
Direction Finder You can use the Pocket A-Z to show the direction of travel from one location to another. Place the 'person' icon at the start location on the map then place a 'flag' icon at the destination. Then by clicking the 'show direction' icon an arrow appears indicating the direction of travel required as the crow flies between the two points. If the map is re-centred whilst travelling, the arrow will readjust to show the new direction to the destination.
The distance to the destination can also be displayed on screen. The distance is measured from the centre of the map on screen to the 'flag'. If the map is re-centered then the distance to travel is recalculated.
