 | | Test Creator is an application which is supposed to help you create tests for students. This program should be used by teachers, who want to automate their classrooms. The software comes with two executable files: one for creating the test, and the other for taking the test.
I tried this program on Windows XP Professional with SP2. When I first opened Test Creator, I accessed the "Questions" menu to add questions to the program's database. I was hoping to get some help adding my first question but the "Wizard..." entry, of the main menu, was disabled. I tried accessing the "New -> Editbox" submenu. I saw that an edit box appeared on the program's interface and that I could now use the wizard. I had no problem defining my question and the correct answer.
After I added my first question I decided to add another, because no test has only one question. I tried for a couple of minutes to add the second question with no luck. I added more tests, students, classes, I tried assigning tests to classes, students to their classes, and many other things. Everything worked, but I still couldn't add a second question to the program's database. After a lot of searching, I realized that the only way to add a new question is to "Clear" the old question. This is the only way I could enable the "New" submenu of the "Question" menu.
I don't consider myself a beginner, nor do I think about myself that I am very advanced, but this program was, for me, very difficult to figure out.
Pluses: It's possible to print each test, and they look pretty nice.
Drawbacks / flaws: Nothing is easy when working with this program. The Test Taker application can be configured through editing a text file. Although I read the help files many times, I still couldn't get it to work.
In conclusion: I only recommend this software to teachers who have very good knowledge about computers. It's just too difficult for a beginner.
