| | 'Icon Craft' is a powerful tool for editing icons and cursors. You can use this software to create all types of icons. Many icon resolutions are supported, including 16x16, 32x32, 64x64, 128x128, and 256x256. Icon Craft can pack the icons you create, making them usable in Windows Vista. Multiple color depths are also supported.
You can use the program to edit existing icons or to create new ones from scratch. A set of drawing tools is provided, enabling you to draw all kinds of shapes. Each shape, line, or text can be filled with a single color or a special effect. For example, you could draw a circle with a color gradient inside.
The program supports multilevel undo operations. It can edit or create icons and cursors with a transparent background. Icon Craft also supports zooming, layers, and rotation. A feature that I liked a lot was the program's ability to resample (resize) an image smoothly.
Pluses: The effects provided by this software are great. It's possible to adjust the color levels, create shadows, replace colors, adjust the opacity of an icon, and so on. I mostly liked the "disabled" effect. This effect allows you to create a "disabled" version of any icon. When applying this effect, the program creates a grayscale and light-colored image that resembles the original.
Another nice feature, and definitely a plus, is the program's "Customize Windows Icons" dialog. This window enables the user to customize or change any icon from the operating system. You can use it to change desktop, drive, or folder icons, as well as other miscellaneous icons displayed by Windows.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: Icon Craft is a great tool for anyone that wants to draw an icon or a Windows cursor.
