 | | Network Probe can be used for viewing and analyzing your network traffic. If you have network performance issues, this program should be able to help you identify the problem. It logs all kinds of traffic and all the protocols in use on your network.
The goal of this program is to provide you with enough information to be able to diagnose your network. In my opinion, it achieves all that. The program provides you with information about network protocols, type and size of network packets, hardware addresses (MACs), and vendors of network cards from your network. All this data can be accessed by anyone with the administrator password.
When you install the program, it asks you for a restart. Network Probe's features are only available after you restart your system. You have the option to install Network Probe as a system service in order to ensure that your system is continuously monitored. Otherwise, the monitoring starts only when you run the program.
The interface, which is used to show the status of your network, is available by accessing a web page in your browser. This interface uses JAVA. On the top right corner, a button opens the window that shows this information. I found it more comfortable to use this window, because it supports resizing as opposed to the web interface.
Pluses: Three types of nice looking graphs are available. Bar, line, or pie charts can be used to show the network activity. Filtering network traffic is also supported.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: At this price, anyone would expect great performance. I wasn't disappointed by this software. If you want to view extensive details about traffic in your own network, you can download and try Network Probe.
