 | | SniffPass is a lightweight utility which listens to your network, sniffing HTTP, POP3, SMTP, IMAP4, or FTP passwords. If you run this program on a computer which redirects traffic (acts as a router), you'll be able to sniff any password that passes through its network cards to the Internet.
Several days ago I had a problem. I had to reinstall Windows, but I couldn't find the passwords for all my e-mail accounts. The passwords were saved in Microsoft Outlook, but I couldn't find a way to recover them. That's when I found SniffPass. It was able to intercept all my passwords, so I was able to write them down and reinstall Windows without any problem. SniffPass can also help you recover passwords for FTP accounts or Web passwords.
SniffPass supports saving all the captured passwords into a simple text file.
Pluses: You can use the program to generate HTML reports containing intercepted passwords.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: SniffPass can both recover previously saved passwords, and intercept other people's passwords. It's a nice utility to have, especially considering the fact that this software is free.
