 | | The Mop is a small disk cleanup utility which takes care of the junk files which are no longer needed on your local disks. By taking care, I mean that they will be deleted in order to free space on your hard drives and boost up your machine's performance.
When you first run it, a wizard will guide you through the program configuration steps. With the help of this wizard, you can set the program to start with Windows, schedule updates, get program related news and configure proxy servers (where necessary). O course, you can skip this process and use the default settings which you can later change from the 'Program settings' section.
The program will scan your computer for all types of temporary files. After file detection, you can choose between removing files to Recycle Bin or permanently deleting files (recommended for machines which store confidential data). In the 'Settings' section, you can manually edit the list of extensions used as criteria for identifying garbage files. You can also set up exceptions (folders that will not be scanned), or you can add folders which will be automatically deleted.
Pluses: An interesting feature is the option of scanning all the partitions, not only the system partition. Another novelty for this software category is the fact that 'The Mop' shows the decrease of performance produced by garbage files.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: A fully featured data wiping program: fast, easy to use and highly reliable.
