Bandwidth Monitor is a traffic tracking tool. It monitors each of your network interfaces and displays many kinds of info about their network traffic. Current speed for both input and output are displayed in a nice looking semi-transparent graph. Of course, the transparency level can be adjusted using the options menu.
The user has access to daily, weekly, monthly or yearly traffic reports. These reports can be exported in text or CSV format. Also, you can record traffic rates at a specified interval of time. The minimum record interval is one second. You can use a timer which will show you how much data was transmitted and received, along with the number of seconds, minutes and hours since the timer was started.
Although at first I didn't see any use in having a traffic monitor, now I realize that there are multiple advantages in seeing your network and internet traffic in realtime. Bandwidth Monitor can assist you in troubleshooting your network as well as in spotting viruses and spyware before they do any damage. Most spyware transmit data from or to your computer, this being visible in Bandwidth Monitor's graph. Pluses: Simple to use, nice looking user interface.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: Anyone can use this tool. Network administrators and home users alike can enjoy the benefits of seeing their traffic statistics.
