 | | BitComet is a very popular P2P (peer-to-peer) torrent download client and more.
Like I said before, BitComet is commonly used to download torrents from the P2P community. You can also share your downloaded content for other users and you can use the program to browse the community for torrent sites, torrent portals, etc. The program supports download pause/resume and previewing the downloads in progress. I won't insist on the common settings but on the settings which drew my attention.
Besides P2P connections, you can use BitComet for capturing IE file downloads. This means that you can use the program as a download manager for Internet Explorer. You can actually use BitComet as a download manager for Firefox or Opera as well, but these programs come with their in-built download managers. You can also add BitComet to the Firefox Context menu.
A feature which I enjoyed was BitComet's function to download .flv (Flash video) files from the following sites: http://www.youtube.com, http://video.google.com, http://www.dailymotion.com, http://www.metacafe.com, http://www.ifilm.com.
If you want faster browsing speed when searching for torrents or related content, you can use BitComet's resource browser for a faster loading of the pages.
Pluses: Some nice features are: the possibility to preview downloaded files via BT, HTTP, FTP protocols while downloading; BT protocol encryption and the P2SP support for BT download.
The user interface is nicely designed and the program is easy to use, but in order to learn completely how to use it, it would be useful to read the 'Help' section.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: A nice and multipurpose Internet content downloader. However, it is advisable to pay attention to the copyright issues which may occur.
