 | | Hit-Recorder is a cute application designed to help you record several online radio streams simultaneously and then edit burn the output files on disks. Actually, this is a suite of applications which includes an audio editor, audio converter, CD ripper, ID3 tag editor, music library and a Podcast manager.
The program has an updated list of online radio stations to which you can listen. You can also choose to record several streams at the same time while listening to one of them. You can record unlimited streams in MP3 format and use time frames for your recordings: this means that you can limit the recording to 5, 10, 15, 30, 60 and 90 minutes. There are also some recording filters available such as the possibility to filter the jingles and the option to separate the songs automatically. Recording can be also scheduled so that you won't miss your favorite tunes.
The 'Music Library' allows you to edit MP3 tags and create playlists. Radio stations ca be added to a list of favorites so that you won't have to search for them every time you wish to listen to them. The 'Audio Converter' allows you to convert audio files (a large variety of formats) to MP3, OGG-Vorbis or WMA.
In case you wish to add a little flavor to your favorite tunes, you can use the 'Audio Editor' to insert/remove silence, insert echo, insert vibration, normalize, fade in/out, filter track and so on.
When you wish to listen to your favorite music while going on a trip or so, you can use the 'Music 2 go' feature for a quick file transfer between your PC and a USB stick, iPod, PDA or PSP. And there's no stopping here. You can also burn files to CDs or DVDs using the in-built disk burner. Last, but not list, there's a 'Podcast manager' included for the easy handling of your Podcast library.
Pluses: When running it for the first time, beginners can use the 'Set-up assistant' for the program configuration. This will help you configure your Internet connection and select the LAME encoder needed for file conversion. In case the LAME encoder is nowhere to be found on your computer, you can download it for free using the link provided by the program. Since the program need to access the Internet, it has an option for registering itself in the XP/Vista firewall. This option will save you the trouble of setting program permissions.
Drawbacks / flaws:
In conclusion: This application is an excellent audio recording, editing and management tool. I could play with it all day long, so I recommend you try it.
