 | | 'Atelier Web Remote Commander' is a tool used for remote assistance and control of other computers.
The innovative thing about this program is that it doesn't require any installation on the remote machine. Using it appears to be quite simple. You need to logon to a remote account with Administrator privileges. Then you have to enter the remote host's IP number, user name, and password, and the connection will be established immediately. You must have Administrator's privileges on the remote machine or, alternatively, you must be able to supply a User Name/Password of an account in the Administrator's group of the remote machine.
When you are connected to a remote computer, you can access all the information regarding that remote machine. You can even get full access by overriding its keyboard and mouse. Five categories can help you find information regarding anything you want to know about that computer.
In the 'Desktop' section, you can work directly on the remote computer's desktop. In the 'SysInfo' section, you get access to general computer info (operating system, processor, BIOS, memory, etc.), installed hardware devices, running processes and services, as well as physical memory. In the 'File System' section, you can modify the content of any partition on the remote machine. I found this section very useful, because it allowed me to create or delete directories and files, as well as copy them from or to the remote machine, even though those directories weren't shared. The 'Users and Groups' section contains detailed information regarding all users, groups, and password hashes on the remote machine. Finally, the 'Network Info' section provides access to shared resources, ports, routing, IP/Transport protocols, and network interfaces.
All these tools available in Atelier Web Remote Commander allowed me to control a remote computer in either visible or stealth mode. The interface is nicely designed and I found it very easy to work with. The program didn't use many resources on the remote system.
The connection established with a remote machine can be encrypted to ensure the security of that connection. As for personal security, you may set a password for the program and prevent unauthorized users from using it.
Pluses:
Drawbacks / flaws: It doesn't work on machines with Windows XP Home Edition.
In conclusion: An excellent program for remote control and remote assistance, or simply for supervision of networked workstations.
