| | Font Fitting Room Deluxe is a tool for managing fonts. It allows you to preview the installed fonts, as well as those not installed yet on your system. The three tabs placed on the left side of the program's window allow you to quickly access the system fonts, browse for those you want to preview before you decide which to install, and organize your favorite fonts into sets. I mentioned those tabs because you will get to use them a lot when working with this tool.
Previewing the fonts means that you can see the full font description (full font name, file, maximum number of glyphs, author, font type, face name, etc.), the kerning pair and the character map. Each character appears in its own cell, and when you click on a character grid you'll see the magnified char. You can also see the hotkey that inserts special characters into a text document.
The most important thing is that you can insert sample text and the program automatically applies all the listed fonts to it, so you don't have to do that manually, when you need to choose a suitable font for a text block. You only have to scroll down to see how it looks. Nice.
Your favorite fonts can be organized into sets or databases, so you needn't waste a lot of time looking for one, when you need it the most. You can search within the database, add/delete fonts as well as install or uninstall them. Feel free to drag and drop a folder from Windows Explorer to 'Font Sets' tab to quickly create a new set.
A very nice feature is called 'Clear Type Tuning', which lets you adjust the font contrast. Clear Type is a technology built into Windows XP that improves the display of text on LCD monitors.
Supported font types include: True Type font(*.ttf, *.ttc), Open Type font(*.ttf, *.ttc,*.otf), PostScript Type 1 font(*.pfm,*.pfb), and Microsoft Windows font(*.fnt, *.fon).
Pluses: It is very quick when it comes to displaying fonts and it has nice features.
