 | | Very much like other web accelerators, Google Web Accelerator is an application meant to boost up your Internet surfing speed. All you have to do is to download and install it and your web pages should load up faster than before. Though, larger file downloads such as mp3s or video streaming and pages encrypted with the HTTPS protocol will not be accelerated.
Pluses: Google web Accelerator increases your Internet surfing speed by sending your page requests through Google machines dedicated to handling Google Web Accelerator traffic. It stores copies of frequently visited pages to make them quickly accessible or downloads only the updates if a web page has changed slightly since you last viewed it.
Drawbacks / flaws: Only optimized for North American users. Since it is a beta version, it might cause system instability and it might also cause crashes of Mozilla Firefox. Since Google Web Accelerator is currently optimized to speed up web page loading for broadband connections, Dial-up users may not see much improvement. Users outside of North America and Europe may not see much improvement in their web page loading speed. It only runs on Windows XP or Windows 2000 sp3+.
In conclusion: Except for North American users, everyone else has to wait until a final release.
