box_ashampoo_winoptimizerMaintaining your machine is a must.

In order to keep on functioning correctly and provide an effective service, computers, like any other type of machine, require regular maintenance. Whilst computers come with optimization and maintenance facilities as standard, utilising these can often be difficult, and require the user to have a sufficient amount of technical know-how, while also requiring the time and effort to keep abreast of current technological developments.

Ashampoo WinOptimizer 10 promises to take the sting out of things by offering all manner of customisation tools for your PC or laptop in one simple application. It offers backups, restore points and task schedulers, as well as allowing users to analyse detailed information on hardware and software specifications, such as the space and health statuses of disks and drives. There are a large number of file tools, allowing the user to recover lost or deleted files, remove duplicate files or safely and securely delete files, as well as maintaining internet history and cleaning up the system registry.

Ashampoo have long been providing essential utilities for computer maintenance, and WinOptimizer 10 continues on that trend. The User Interface is a joy to work with, and takes the hassle out of tuning up your PC. Installation was quick and easy, and the main program was up and running within a matter of minutes. As WinOptimizer continues to grow and develop as a program, so too do the list of features it has on offer, and it comes highly recommended for tweaking, tuning and optimising your machine.

While the free trial has its limitations, some people may be reluctant to fork out $39.99 for the full version, especially when there are numerous free tools and utilities online. Although for ease of use, and having a wide variety of powerful features in one simple to use application, we think it’s a solid choice when it comes to PC optimisation.

Burn your CD, DVD and Blu-ray Disc in Full HD quality quickly and easily with Ashampoo Burning Studio 11

Take complete control of your DVD and Blu-ray burning process with this great Windows application.

HD movies are awesome, but not everyone has the bandwidth to be able to stream and view home movies on the Internet. With three kids, and two of them under the age of 7, my wife and I are always taking movies of the kids for relatives who live out of state. Helping them view those movies can be a challenge, as not everyone has the level of Internet service that I do. This is why I really like Ashampoo Burning Studio. It’s a complete CD/DVD utility for Windows.

Ashampoo Burning Studio is fast, easy to use and efficient, as it handles all of your data – files, audio and video authoring tasks without sacrificing its famous ease of use. In version 10 they added a bunch of new features, but the program is still easy to use. Everything is explained to you as you do it.

The application’s main focus is its authoring capabilities for building video and audio discs. It fully supports 720p and 1080p HD video for Blu-ray discs. All the encoding is handled by Ashampoo Burning Studio. All the authoring tools have been overhauled. You now use the same new integrated editor for building DVD and Blu-ray video disks with menus.

In addition, there is a new Autoplay Editor module that you can use to build auto-starting data discs with attractive interactive menus. It also has a new Audio Player that plays audio files and audio CDs without leaving the program.

Last week’s highlights #01

It was a crowdy week in terms of new releases but somehow shadowed by the death of Steve Jobs and the release of iPhone 4S. Therefore we made for you a round-up of some highlight products and news.

Google Chrome is coming to Android

As expected by many, Chrome will be launched for Android too and it might happen in October 11. The information comes from Chromium Code website where we also found out that the Android version of Chrome will include most desktop functions and support for 2D Skia – a complete 2D graphic library for drawing Text, Geometries, and Images that Google has been hard at work on.

Back to October 11, Google has an event partner with Samsung with the debut of Nexus Prime and Ice Cream Sandwich and maybe, Chrome for Android makes an appearance. I believe that the Android version Chrome will be available through Android Market and it will also come as an option to the stock Android browser right out of the box for the latest version of Android, but this is just a hunch.

Ashampoo Photo Commander – all-in-one app for editing, organizing, sharing, and presenting photos

We all edit our photos in one way or the other. Either simply to remove the “red eyes” from our photos, either to resize, crop or rotate them. Ashampoo Photo Commander is a comprehensive photo tool that covers all that you need to edit, optimize or quick fix your photos, but it also offers all the features to organize, share and even present your digital photos.

The installation is simple and straightforward. However, I personally chose the custom method to avoid installing their toolbar. When you open Ashampoo Photo Commander, you’ll can simply locate your photo collection in order to edit and to use your favorite shots to create slideshows, albums, collages, cards, calendars and more. Ashampoo Photo Commander also includes a handful of filters and special effects.

One thing that I find really useful is the batch processing tools which allow you to convert, edit or add filters to a group of selected photos. Also, comparative with version 8, the latest version introduces an improved wizard to make the process much simpler and the quick-fix mode has been improved, adding an automatic red-eye removal tool and better eraser tool. When you’re playing with the effects, you can see now “before” and “after” shots of the photo. Also, the video playback has been improved, and video files can now be easily rotated during playback.

Another interesting feature is the Capture Mode. You can capture windows or just parts of the screen and you can take multiple captures at a time. The captured images can be modified later in the built-in image editor. Before capturing the screen, you can set some options including the color of the applied shadows or the shape of the captured images. Also, you can burn your images directly to a CD or DVD as an animated slide show or upload them to your homepage as an interactive photo album.

Making screenshots is one of the tasks that can be part of your everyday computer activity. Whether at work, school, or at home, you might need a tool that can take screenshots for you. While there is a huge range of products that can do the same thing (for example SnagIt, PicPick, Quick Screenshot Maker) Ashampoo Snap 5 comes as the optimum solution for taking and sharing screenshots.

This program allows you to easily take screenshots of various regions, websites, or even specific windows on your desktop with just a few clicks. Within the same interface you can use several tools for editing. In this way you can easily add images, notes, texts, markings, and watermarks to your screenshots. You can share your screenshots within the program by email, by saving them to the clipboard or a file or just print them. Moreover, you can now upload your result directly to Facebook or YouTube.

The list of new editing tools goes even further with gradient fill support, text notes that can be added with a single click, support for text effects including gradients, outlines, mirror effects and other complex text objects, numbering support and BlurPen support for pixelate areas. There is an obvious change regarding the interface design. It has that touchy feeling that goes very well with the touchscreen support for Windows 7.

For the first time in its line of products, version 5 of Ashampoo Snap provides tools for recording videos. Whether is your desktop that must be captured or even your webcam with audio, Ashampoo Snap can do this easily. Now video greetings have never been so easy to be done and uploaded to YouTube within the program.
