| Need to improve I've had the al-1641cs for about 18 months, using it for my small law practice. It scans, copies and prints documents, mostly as well as any other copier, printer scanner. Its speed is fine for my work. But I find that it fails on several points; first the background: When scanning, you must limit the work to 25 pages or less, which is not too much of a problem. The software, SHARPDESK controls the scanningand files it into folders. If your document is large, you must scan in 25 page batches. After each batch, SHARPDESK will apend the next batch to the previous batches of 25 pages and so forth. After scanning the entire document in batches, SHARPDESK then upon command converts the document into a single TIF document. Problem 1. Occationally, a misfeed occures. When that happens, say on page 133 of 150 page document, SHARPDESK will stop the scanning, give you a notice of misfeed, then erases all 132 previous pages requiring you to rescan the document again from page 1, in 25 or less batches. I don't understand why or who decided that the SHARPDESK should erase all the previously scanned pages. Problem 2. No one that I know of uses TIF documents. We're all now using PDF documents. While SHARPDESK provides an option to print the TIF document to PDF, it does not allow the scanned documement to be converted automatly into a PDF document. Problem 3. When you call SHARP's customer representative to inquire into software updates or make suggestions for product improvment for increased usefullness to its customers, the response is not very satisfying: as in: We don't really care. In summary, Until SHARP changes its "you bought it, now live with it" attitude, I would not buy another SHARP product again. » reply to this review was this review helpful? - report abuse 373 of 717 users found this review helpful | | | | | | Displaying: 1-1 from 1 | 1 | Related software downloads for SHARP AL-1641CS 1.0.26.0 |
